Speaking of Giveaways...

...I've had a cool new idea.  Remember that time last summer when I gave away like twenty of my books?  I'm totally going to do that again.  I've already got 9 or 10 books put aside for this (like books I read but didn't love enough to keep, or books I got copies of that I liked better), and I'll probably have more after I finish combing through my books again prior to another yard sale.

So, yes, another big book giveaway is in the offing.  Probably in June, after the Little Women Read-Along is over.

But that's not my cool new idea.

My cool new idea is this:  what if, at the same time as I held my book giveaway, lots and lots of other blogs held book-related giveaways too.  Like, a giveaway party.  A giveaway link-up.  People could bop from one blog to the next, entering giveaways all over.

Every blogger would come up with their own rules and restrictions and host their own giveaways, but they could link somehow (haven't worked out details yet) to all the others too, so people could find lots and lots of giveaways to enter.

I think that would be crazy good fun.  Not to mention, we could all end up with free new books.

So... does that sound like fun to anyone else?

    1. Hee. True. But you know, you don't have to host a giveaway if you don't want to -- you could just enter to win other peoples' books.

  6. That sounds fun, except I'd have to find books that I want to give away that I didn't write in!!!!!

    1. Ruth, I totally give away books I've written in, or ex-library books. I just make sure to specify if they have library markings or if I've written in them. Most people aren't going to care. And what better way to make room for more books on your shelves?

    2. And there are people (like me :) who really like getting a book that's been written in! Seeing what things that other readers noticed and getting a glimpse of their reading journey is fun. In my opinion.

  7. Oh, I'd love to do this IF the cost of shipping packages from Canada to the US (or Canada to anywhere, for that matter) wasn't so high. (And that wouldn't even matter if I had some kind of steady income.) *sigh* Well, I'll be following the progress of this link-up avidly all the same. :)

    1. Oh, I know, Eva. It's so ridiculous that it costs so much to send things On The Same Continent! Obviously, every blogger will make their own rules for this, but I intend to make my giveaways open to US AND Canada. Last year I did world-wide, but I'm not sure I can swing that this year. We'll see.

    2. Well, I suppose I'll just have to tag along and enter all the giveaways. Not that I'll mind. ;) (And the thing is, there are several books I could name right now that I'd be more than willing to give away...grrrrr.)

    3. Aww. Well, does your library accept donations of used books for, like used book sales to raise money? Mine does, so a lot of my used books end up going there. Well, a lot that my kids don't want, anyway ;-)

    4. I've never checked that out, but they probably do. I'll find out one way or another and then go from there. :)

    1. Natalie, you don't have to host a giveaway to participate. We need someone to enter all the giveaways too! And once we get a button worked up for it. you could always help spread the word by putting it on your blog.

    2. Haha, okay. :) And yes! I will definitely put up the button for it!

  10. Yes, yes, yes, this is totally Emma-approved!!!!

Although I'm with Kelly-Anne, I'm not sure I can find any of my books I'm willing to part with! But I absolutely LOVE the idea, and I hope it works out. :-)

  11. I would love to have book giveaways all over the place, but I wouldn't be able to give any of mine away because I have to be careful with my money and I live in Europe, so shipping to all you American girls would be, y'know ... costy. But the idea is so lovely, Hamlette! :-)

    1. Completely understandable :-) You can still enter any giveaways that are open world-wide, though!

  12. I have quite a few books I'm not really wanting to keep so I'd probably consider participating. Sounds like fun and a good way to speed books on to a new and better home!

  13. Okay, I think I already told you this, but I'm definitely in! I have a couple of books ready to go and a friend who's agreed to crochet a Harry Potter-themed scarf for me to give away! And maybe I'll have more by June! Whooo!

    1. Excellent! As I have time, I'm going to put up an official "page" on my blog for this, for people to get their blogs added to the roster once we've got a date set and stuff. Stay tuned!
